Dr. Christine Kim Garcia appointed New Associate Director of the Irving Institute's Precision Medicine Resource

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Christine Kim Garcia, MD, PhD as Associate Director of the Precision Medicine Resource (PMR) in the Irving Institute for Clinical and Translational Research. Dr. Garcia is the Frode Jensen Professor of Medicine, Director of the Columbia Precision Medicine Initiative, and Chief of the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Medicine within the Department of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center. She has been a member of the Center for Precision Medicine and Genomics and an affiliate of the Institute for Genomic Medicine.

Dr. Garcia will collaborate closely with Co-Directors Krzysztof Kiryluk, MD, MS, Ronald Wapner, MD, and Associate Director Gary Miller, PhD, to further strengthen  initiatives and drive advances in precision medicine. The Precision Medicine Resource at the Irving Institute supports both discovery and implementation science, and heavily utilizes interdisciplinary input from basic science researchers, clinicians from all specialties, laboratory medicine scientists, human geneticists, systems biologists, biomedical informaticians and mathematicians, health information technology experts, health educators, and policy makers. Precision Medicine offers the opportunity to increase the effectiveness of health care at reduced cost with improved outcomes, decreased adverse effects, and greater patient satisfaction.
